In response to your quote in the article on this week's Valpo Bowl, I'm startled by your characterization of this long-time rivalry game.

As much as I applaud your effort to raise awareness of the event to fund you worthwhile cause, to suggest to players and coaches this is merely a "fun event" and that whatever rivalry may exist between the football programs should be "set aside"...REALLY?

High school rivalries are unifying and motivating for both teams and should encouraged and respected, not "set aside" for the benefit of your organization.

How about... "This is a long-standing rivalry between two great schools and should be an exciting game. We wish both teams the best of luck and appreciate their support of such a worthwhile cause!"

I realize this is an important fundraiser for your org but please don't diminish what it means to the players.
