Will Cary Wiest attend the council meeting tonight?
Atherton, posted by Cary Wiest has ENTERED the building, a resident of the Atherton: other neighborhood, on Oct 17, 2012 at 7:44 am

After not attending a single council or committee meeting in the past year in Atherton, yet being endorsed as the best candidate by the APOA, I wonder if Cary Wiest will attend tonight's council meeting?

Probably. He'll show up to make his one and only appearance all year just before the election.

Can we get a tally of which candidates have attended these meetings? I know Elizabeth Lewis has, obviously, and Greg Conlon is on the finance committee.

I believe Denise Kupperman is a regular attendee at all meetings.

Why hasn't Cary Wiest attended? Is he just a Manchurian candidate for cops?

I don't know if you attend Council meetings, but I have attended several and often see Cary Wiest standing in the back of the room allowing others to have the limited seating.

I have also attended several Atherton Council Meetings and have sat in the back row right next to the guy doing the video work for the APOA. I have not seen Carey Weist there.

It really doesn't matter if he has attended a meeting or not. The Atherton Police Department has spoken and if you live in Atherton you better do as they say.

Wiest applied for a committee and was rejected by the Widmer, McKeithen, Dobbie majority.

WMD appointed their friends so that when they run they can be endorsed by people on commissions and committees. They can mentor them to take their place.

This makes it hard for those with differing views from WMD to get experience.

Wiest can change the Good Old Boy network of the Atherton Council.

Weist would be a good choice IF he had not so blindly committed to giving the APOA whatever it wants. It would be nice to have council members that are at least open minded on the issue of police outsourcing rather than all lining up and saluting the APOA flag.

Someday the Council will wake up to the fact that Atherton is paying far more for its police services than are any of its neighbors or comparable cities.

Carey Wiest website originally said

Provide Atherton law enforcement with the staffing, compensation, resources and respect it deserves.

He has removed the respect it deserves. I'm glad he has and I wish he never put it up in the first place.
