It is interesting to note that both Fergusson and Duriseti would be recused from any Council discussions or decisions regarding any Stanford's properties in Menlo Park.
Menlo Park voters should do their duty to ensure that Fergusson and Duriseti do not participate in any city council discussions by not electing them.
The Incumbents Richard Cline, Peter Ohtaki and Kirsten Keith are the best qualified for Menlo Park City Council.
Peter makes a good point. All the more reason to vote for the initiative.
Thanks; not in favor of this ballot measure myself
Some substance to your post would be nice. Sloganeering is not very informative.
I think we should elect people with no conflict of interest - perhaps someone who isn't even a resident of Menlo Park ;)
What are people inhaling in this county? The place is being overrun by special interests and political con-men (and con-women). It can't be the poison now being sprayed to kill mosquitos (and anyything else with lungs). The bureacrats just started that campaign.
Yes, I share your consternation on the chemical spraying the other night. I saw dead insects all over my yard the next day -- some which are quite beneficial to have. Since when did 4 cases in all of California constitute an epidemic such that spraying this toxin everywhere without anyone's consent is justified? Most West-Nile infections are asymptomatic and go undetected. It's insane.
Perhaps this was one of the fatalities from the spraying (the original has been removed from the author's Facebook web page):
Am I guessing it was ok that Ohtaki and Mueller had conflicts about the specific plan?
It is not unusual for elected officials to have conflicts. Smart ones figure out how to have an impact on important matters. For example, some changes could be made, and need to be made, to the specific plan that affect more than just Stanford.
During their campaigns, Ohtaki and Mueller never promised to save the residents from a project they won't be able to vote on.
"Council conflicts" writes "It is not unusual for elected officials to have conflicts.Smart ones figure out how to have an impact on important matters."
Even though it sure sounds that way, I assume you aren't advocating for City Council members to violate the law.
The fact that PC would stoop so low as to post that tacky little collage suggests that Kelly represents a real threat to the special interest groups he serves. I have never been a Kelly fan, but now I am thinking I will vote for her.
talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Oh, and unless you consider the Fire District a "special interest" he serves no special interests.
Kelly posted that collage not me. I just pointed it out an an example of her judgment.
Right, Peter. Remind me when Kelly accepted your Facebook friend request?
MV, you could save a lot of time by asking your doppelganger PC to add "and Menlo Voter agrees 110% with me" to the end of all his posts.
And Hard Choice, what substantive contribution would YOU like to make to this thoughtful gathering place for sharing community information and opinion?
And what are all the names that you have used for your Forum postings?
perhaps you are new to this forum. I do not always agree with Peter. I have disagreed with him on a number of issues in the past. On Kelly we happen to agree.
Kelly is a self serving political climber that has no one but her own self interests at heart. She did not and would not serve Menlo Park well.
One other thing; with Facebook if one doesn't set their privacy settings so that only "friends" can see what they post, ANYONE can see it. But, you know that don't you?
Don't miss out on the discussion!
