Ms. Westrate was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Santa Barbara. After graduating from the University of San Diego with a degree in music, she moved to San Francisco, where she received her teaching credential at San Francisco State and taught in San Francisco and San Mateo.
She married Steve Westrate in 1971 and the couple moved to Portola Valley, where they lived for 22 years before moving to Woodside, then Menlo Park.
In 1985 Ms. Westrate earned her real estate license and became an agent with Cornish & Carey in Portola Valley and, later, specialized in country properties for Coldwell Banker in Woodside.
She enjoyed collecting fine art, traveling with the Contemporary Collector's Circle of the Cantor Center, and spending time in her Asian-inspired garden.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; children Erika Sattler and Blake; sister Judy Bianchi; and three grandchildren.
