'Ice Fantasy' theme for Filoli event

"Ice Fantasy: New Traditions," Filoli's annual holiday fundraiser, opens Friday, Nov. 29, through Dec. 7, at the historic estate in Woodside. Tickets are now on sale for the nine-day event.

More than 700 volunteers, along with Filoli staff, create Holiday Traditions each year. The longstanding event is Filoli's largest and most beloved fundraiser and supports the preservation and stewardship of the historic site.

"Ice Fantasy" refers to the decor of white and crystal that will turn the 36,000-square-foot mansion and the Visitors and Education Center into a winter wonderland. The kickoff to festivities will be opening night premier shopping on Friday, Nov. 29, accompanied by live music, wine and appetizers. Buffet lunches and evening bistro dining will be available at select times during the week with advance reservations.

For young families, there is the children's luncheon party (ages 5 to 10) on Saturday, Dec. 7, which includes a visit with Santa Claus and children's entertainment.

Ticket prices vary with each event, ranging from $30 to $85 for non-members, and $25 to $75 for members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.filoli.org or by calling Filoli weekdays at 364-8300, ext. 508. Many dates and times sell out early.

Filoli is recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century. The 654-acre estate was established as a private residence in 1917 and opened to the public in 1976. It is a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
