Filoli program features work of Syrie Maugham

"Syrie Maugham: Staging the Glamorous Interior" will be the topic of a talk by author and historian Pauline Metcalf at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at Filoli.

Interior designer Maugham was known for her all-white rooms, which she created for celebrities of the day, in the 1920s and 1930s. Her high-style interiors were also used in movies and theatrical productions. Ms. Maugham was married to renowned writer Somerset Maugham.

After Ms. Metcalf's presentation, there will be a reception, book sale and signing of Ms. Metcalf's book, "Syrie Maugham" (Acanthus Press 2010).

Tickets at $25 for members, $30 for non-members, may be purchased online at www.filoli.org or by calling 364-8300, ext. 508.
