Menlo Park Shopping Night. Menlo Park boutiques are banding together to endorse the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) 2011 Spring Fling fundraiser. Talks/Authors

"Great Places to Work." Patti Lee-Hoffman will discuss her new book, "In Good Company: Triage Consulting Group Unlocks the Secret of Great Places to Work," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Kepler's bookstore, 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park. The book profiles 11 companies that are thriving, although they are in businesses hit hard by the recession.

Atherton Book Club. Atherton Library book discussion will take place every second Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. starting Feb 8. Canary Foundation Luncheon. Canary Foundation's 2nd Annual Cancer Early Detection Series with Kris Carr will be held Feb. 2.
