Joan Lenore Winsor
Jan. 3, 1941-Oct. 5, 2016
Palo Alto, California

Submitted by Janice Winsor

Joan Winsor, a Palo Alto native and long-time resident, passed way on Oct. 5. She was a speech therapist in the Palo Alto Unified School District. Joan was active in the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre, the Palo Alto Community Theatre and West Bay Opera. She sang and traveled with a choir that performed the Woman’s Vocal Orchestra of Sumatra, wrote an operetta that was performed by Palo Alto schoolchildren, taught in Darmstadt Germany in the 1960s and maintained a long-time friendship with other teachers with whom she shared that experience. Joan loved to garden. She enjoyed viewing the wildlife online camera at Pete’s Pond Mashatu in Botswsana and actively participated in its online blog.

She is survived by sister Janice Winsor and brother Richard Winsor.
