Police calls: Wielding pepper spray in Portola Valley

PORTOLA VALLEY
Residential burglary report: Losses estimated at $3,400 in break-in and theft on miscellaneous jewelry and two pairs of jeans, Willowbrook Drive, Jan. 26.
Use of tear gas report: Portola Valley resident arrested on charges of using pepper spray not in defense of self after claiming that victim stole her property and trying to force her way into victim's home after being refused entry, Bear Gulch Drive, Jan. 24.

WOODSIDE
Fraud report: Losses estimated at $4,000 in unauthorized opening of six credit accounts used at retailers in and around McDonough, Georgia, Glencrag Way, Jan. 26.

Residential burglary reports:
■ Losses estimated at $3,100 in entry through unlocked side window and theft of three watches, Sonoma Ave., Jan. 30.
■ Losses estimated at $1,000 in entry through unlocked rear door and theft of two laptop computers, Madera Ave., Jan. 28.
■ No property losses but front door damaged in attempted burglary, Waverley St., Jan. 25.
■ No losses but evidence that someone unauthorized was inside house, Santa Cruz Ave., Jan. 31.
Commercial burglary report: Unknown losses in theft of currency from unlocked safe, Santa Cruz Ave., Jan. 27.
Auto burglary reports:
■ Losses estimated at $6,780 in unknown method of entry into four vehicles, theft of tools and siphoning of gasoline, Constitution Drive, Jan. 28.
■ Losses estimated at $2,000 in smashing of rear window and theft of camera bag, lenses and memory cards for digital camera, Middle Ave., Jan. 28.
■ Losses estimated at $110 in break-in through vehicle window and theft of purse and miscellaneous personal property, Alpine Ave., Jan. 27.
Theft reports:
■ Losses estimated at $783 in theft from convertible with top down of wallet, jacket, gloves, glasses, phone holder, phone charger and bottle of cologne, Sharon Park Drive, Jan. 29.
■ Losses estimated at $400 in theft of locked bike from in front of apartment, Evelyn St., Jan. 30.
■ Losses estimated at $200 in theft of locked bike from front porch of apartment, Florence Lane, Jan. 30.
■ Losses estimated at $200 in theft of locked bike from apartment bike rack, Menlo Ave., Jan. 30.
■ Losses estimated at $175 in theft of clothing in package delivered to front door, Ivy Drive, Jan. 29.
■ Losses estimated at $124 in theft of bike from in front of apartment, Coleman Ave., Jan. 30.
■ Losses estimated at $55 in theft of book, T-short and greeting cards in package delivered to front door, Coleman Ave., Jan. 29.

LADERA
Grand theft report: Loss estimated $979 in theft of baby stroller from area near front door, Castanya Way, Jan. 28.

WEST MENLO PARK
Residential burglary report: No apparent losses after kitchen door muddied and smashed, Sterling Ave., Jan. 25.

ATHERTON
Residential burglary report: Mail stolen from mailbox at unoccupied residence, Tuscaloosa Ave., Jan. 28.
Theft reports:
■ Large planter stolen from front porch, Lloyden Drive, Jan. 28.
■ Cell phones and laptop computers missing from unlocked room, Menlo School at 50 Valparaiso Ave., Jan. 31.
