Update: Westbound Alpine Road now open
Eastbound Alpine remains closed
|
Westbound Alpine Road at Interstate 280 is now open, Chief Dan Ghiorso of the Woodside Fire Protection District said in an email update at 2:55 p.m. today.
Eastbound Alpine at I-280 is still closed and it's unknown when it will reopen, he said.
The road was closed due to downed trees and wires in the roadway.

Posted by Neighbor, a resident of the Portola Valley: Ladera neighborhood, on Nov 30, 2012 at 12:50 pm The impact is that the Alpine Road underpass at 280 is closed and you are forced onto the freeway in order to get across the intersection. Therefore, to get from PV to MP, you have to get on 280 south and turn around at Pagemill road; or to get from MP to PV, get on 280 north and turn around at Sandhill.
So if the intersection isn't cleared by 3:30 or so, Alpine, Sandhill, and Pagemill commutes will all be a mess this afternoon. Plus whatever other problems there are.
