Assemblyman Gordon hosts open house
|
If your social calendar isn't quite full, you might drop by Assemblyman Rich Gordon's open house in Los Altos. The newly elected representative of the new 24th Assembly District is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
Topics for discussion include the state budget, state legislation and other items of interest. Created by redistricting, the 24th Assembly District now represents Menlo Park, Atherton, Portola Valley, Woodside, North Fair Oaks, East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale and the coastside San Mateo County from El Granada to the county line.
The open house runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mr. Gordon's district office at 5050 El Camino Real, Suite 117, in Los Altos.

Posted by Joseph, a resident of the Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park neighborhood, on Nov 24, 2012 at 10:30 pm Will Rich shill, er, I mean talk about why he voted to support and make High Speed Rail is a higher priority than educating the youth of this state, whose pockets the (most likely) hundreds of billions of dollars to fund the train to no where are coming from, and in general why he, and most of the Democrats in Sacramento, think funding Jerry's legacy project is so important?

some voters, er the polls show a majority of voters no longer support HSR. They've awoken to the fact that what they voted for was NOT what they're getting. They were sold a pack of lies by a bunch of politicians beholden to organized labor who will be the primary beneficiary of this boondoggle. The leaders of this state had an opportunity to stop this disaster and instead of leading they bent over to their organized labor masters. It stinks.
Well, the democrats have full controll over the state now and I'd love to hear from you years from now after they have driven the state over a fiscal cliff by supporting more stupid, unaffordable projects like this. Let me know how that works out for you. Me? I'll likely leave the state before then as I can't stand watching the place I loved destroyed by special interests any more.

Clearly you do not understand how the High Speed Rail project is to be funded, and you must have been completely oblivious to the recent CA election ballot initiatives, does Jerry's tax initiative ring any bells??
For starters, High Speed Rail is so costly, it needs to be funded by the state selling bonds. Guess what? the state has to pay those bonds back, and the interest and principal the state owes on all of its bond debt comes out of the general fund, and gets paid first before any other general fund expenditure, including all school related expenses. Funding for trains is by default, a higher priority than school funding.
I guess you forget about how once Jerry signed off on the Democratic approval of the state to issue bonds to pay for the initial segment of rail construction, that all of a sudden, there was a budget hole, and if his tax initiative didn't pass, schools would get cut. Once again, the current CA govt has money for Jerry's legacy train, at the expense of just about anything else.
Rich Gordon, via his votes, is facilitating this fraud.
