Update: Menlo Park candidates file campaign finance reports
Dave Bragg in lead with contributions

Bookmark and Share
He may not have the longest list of endorsements, but so far firefighter Dave Bragg has the most generous donors of the five candidates running for Menlo Park City Council. According to reports filed this week, he's raised $11,277 in contributions. The California Professional Firefighters Political Action Committee helped out by donating $1,000 for printing services.

The rest of the field
* Catherine Carlton: $10,930 plus a $5,000 loan from herself

* Kelly Fergusson: $9,976 plus a $5,000 loan from herself

* Ray Mueller: $6,304, plus a $2,700 loan from himself

* Carolyn Clarke: $2,230

Other highlights
Developer David Bohannon is not playing favorites; he donated $500 to each candidate.

The California Real Estate Political Action Committee gave $500 to Mr. Mueller, who has said he won't accept more than that from any single donor, and $1,000 to Ms. Carlton.

Ms. Fergusson, an incumbent running for a third term, recorded the single smallest individual donations that included $3 contributed by former Councilman Heyward Robinson -- apparently logged while he tested the PayPal donation function on her website, he told the Almanac. While Mr. Robinson gave Mr. Mueller $100, he said he also chipped in about $250 to the incumbent during an earlier reporting cycle.

The Almanac will have a more in-depth look at campaign finances in the Oct. 17 issue.
