A driver who crashed down an embankment off Highway 84 near Skyline Boulevard on Tuesday (Oct. 2) was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. The response to the accident closed Highway 84 between Portola Road and Skyline Boulevard for about two hours.

The crash was reported just before 10 a.m. on Highway 84 near Grandview Drive, said Rebecca Rosenblatt, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office.

The vehicle crashed 100 to 200 feet off the roadway, and emergency crews blocked traffic in both directions while the driver was extricated, she said.

No other vehicles appeared to have been involved in the crash.
