Capturing Edgewood Park
This diorama replicates plant life in soil characterized by the presence of serpentine rock, which is toxic to many plants because of its concentrations of nickel, chromium and cobalt, according to a Wikipedia entry. Among the plants that do thrive there are the dwarf (or California) plantain, lomatium, blue dicks and goldfields. Photo by Ron Yeo
