The new laptop you've been wanting

By Scott Delucchi, Peninsula Humane Society

National Black Cat Appreciation Day is Aug. 17 and we're celebrating in a big way at the Peninsula Humane Society's Center for Compassion in Burlingame.

We've waived the adoption fee (through Aug. 17) for adult black cats and we're discounting black kitten adoptions by 50 percent.

Make Belinda (picture) or another back cat or kitten lucky. Belinda can be a tad shy at first in new surroundings, but with a little patience, she will soon by hopping into your lap and purring.

The Center for Compassion is at 1450 Rollins Road in Burlingame. Go to www.phs-spca.org for more information.
