Saturday: Portola Valley holds cleanup day

Portola Valley residents who want to get rid of electronic equipment, lawn furniture, pots and pans, and expired medications can do so at the town Neighborhood Clean-Up Day on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the Town Center, 765 Portola Road.

The event is free for Portola Valley residents, but they must show proof of residency.

Hazarous materials will not be accepted. Call the county's Household Hazardous Waste Program at (650) 363-4718 or visit http://events.smhealth.org/events/ to schedule a drop-off appointment.

Also, Portola Valley will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Disposal event on Oct. 11.
