Weekend holiday events in Menlo Park

This weekend is stuffed fuller than a Christmas stocking as Menlo Park celebrates the upcoming holidays.

On Saturday (Dec. 7), events include:

19th Annual Jerry Rice Holiday Toy Drive: Next up, from noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday at 300 El Camino Real (site of the former Tesla dealership in Menlo Park), drop off new, unwrapped toys that will go to more than 30 Bay Area charities, including the Peninsula Boys & Girls Clubs. Santa drops by from noon to 1 p.m., then later in the afternoon, from 2 to 4 p.m., former NFL players such as Roger Craig, Brent Jones and J.J.Stokes will be there for photos. Call 921-4191 or 533-4949 for more information.

● Menlo Park's Allied Arts Guild hosts a Christmas market with caroling, crafts and a visit from Santa from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7. The guild is at 75 Arbor Road. Go to alliedartsguild.org.

Sunday (Dec. 8) brings even more festivities, as Caltrain's Holiday Train pulls in at 7:45 p.m. at the 1120 Merrill St. station in Menlo Park. Presented by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the train, sparkling with 60,000 lights, will present entertainment and collect donated toys for local children in need.

A half-hour before the train arrives, the West Bay Model Railroad Association and Hillsdale High School Orchestra will put on a show.
