The public is invited to join the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District in celebrating "40 years and over 60,000 acres" of open space preservation at a "Founders' Day Festival" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Monte Bello Open Space Preserve in the Santa Cruz Mountains, near Los Gatos.
The preserve is located on Page Mill Road about 7.5 miles west of Interstate 280 and about a mile east of Skyline Boulevard.
The family-friendly festival will include live musical performances, line dancing, a historical exhibit, an opportunity to meet the rangers, a puppet show, food trucks, games and lasso tricks.
State senators Jim Beall and Jerry Hill, Assemblyman Rich Gordon, San Mateo County Supervisor Don Horsley and Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian are expected to take part in the event.
