Shots fired at home, vehicles in Menlo Park

More shots were fired as police investigate; no injuries reported

Several gunshots were fired at a home and a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of Carlton Avenue in Menlo Park on Monday night, police reported.

While investigating the shooting near Carlton and Newbridge avenues at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police heard four to five more gunshots about two block away at Pierce Road.

Several vehicles were seen fleeing the scene as officers conducted a perimeter search, said Sgt. Ed Soares of the Menlo Park Police Department.

No one was reported injured. Police found two other vehicles struck by gunfire, in the 1100 block of Willow Road and the 800 block of Pierce Road.

Several spent shell casing were found within the intersection of Newbridge and Carlton avenues, Sgt. Soares said.

Assisting in the response were police from East Palo Alto and Palo Alto, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, and the California Highway Patrol.

Menlo Park police ask anyone with information on these shootings to call Sgt. Eric Cowans at (650) 330-6357, the Menlo Park Police Detective Unit, or the anonymous tip line at (650) 330-6395.

What about all of the shots heard lately in East Palo Alto, that seem to be from both sides of the freeway? Are they related?

Thanks for reporting on what happened. I was riding home to Menlo Park last night around 8pm from a meeting in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven was cordoned off at Willow with police cars at every entrance.

Although the police presence kept me from getting to a friend's home last night, I want to express my appreciation to the Menlo Park police for being responsive to this matter.
