Although Masur has the most endorsements listed, some of those endorsed her for the 2011 school board race, and we're rolled over without confirmation. Many others abandoned her for other candidates when they entered the race. If you remove all the council members that later endorsed other candidates, her list is quite small. Out of 20 cities in San Mateo County, she was endorsed by only one current mayor.

We won't know if Masur has the only campaign that survived without self funding until the final 460s are submitted.

Big endorsements help with fundraising, and those funds can buy mailers. The more mailers you send, the more name recognition you can buy. In the end, name recognition alone wins elections, and everybody knows Warren Slocum.
