Menlo Watch: Budget surveys due back by October 3 Menlo Watch: Budget surveys due back by October 3 (September 21, 2005)

Menlo Park residents are reminded to return by October 3 the surveys they received recently seeking their views on the city's budget decisions.

The city says it will use survey results to determine "tough decisions and trade-offs" to deal with a projected revenue shortfall of $2.9 million in the fiscal year that starts July 1, 2006.

Copies of the survey are available at city buildings, including City Hall and the library. A link to take the survey online can be found at menloparkbudget.org.

There will be community workshops in February to discuss survey results. For more information, call 330-6646 or e-mail menloparkbudget@menlopark.org.
Comment sought on housing development

A draft environmental impact report (EIR) is being circulated for a proposal to demolish two office buildings totaling 56,000 square feet and build 56 single-family houses at 110 and 175 Linfield Drive.

The deadline to submit public comment on the draft EIR is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 20.

The draft EIR is available for review at the library reference desk and the community development department on the first floor of City Hall in the Civic Center.

Comments may be e-mailed to the city's development services manager, Justin Murphy, at jicmurphy@menlopark.org.
Free compost in Bayfront Park

Menlo Park residents are invited to help themselves to free compost and mulch, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 1, just inside the entrance to Bayfront Park in Menlo Park, near the intersection of Bayfront Expressway and Marsh Road.

The materials are made from the recycling of yard trimmings through the curbside collection program, and will be deposited by BFI/Allied Waste. Residents need to bring their own shovels and containers.
