Fundraising for Tsunami relief
(January 12, 2005) The Palo Alto/Menlo Park Mothers Club will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Trader Joe's, 720 Menlo Ave. in Menlo Park. Sixty club members will take part in the sale, with proceeds going to the UNICEF Tsunami Relief Fund.
The club will also offer "meals from the heart," home-cooked meals to be delivered at a later date and gift certificates to local restaurants to support relief efforts.
In addition, the club is working with local "kid-friendly" restaurants to raise money for the International Red Cross Relief Fund. Once a week for five weeks a local restaurant will donate 20 per cent of its sales to the International Red Cross Tsunami Relief. Diners are asked to print a flier from the mothers' club Web site at www.pampmothersclub.org and bring it to the restaurant.
Participating restaurants are: Monday, January 17, Fresh Choice, Stanford Shopping Center, Redwood City, Mountain View; Wednesday, January 26, Chevy's, Redwood City, Mountain View, Foster City; and Tuesday, February 1, Hobee's, Town and Country Shopping Center, Palo Alto.
More restaurants are expected to be added later, according to the club's executive vice president, Todd Berkowitz. For more information, call 325-6489.
