WHAT: The new San Mateo County historical museum opens Saturday, February 6. WHERE: Old County Courthouse, 777 Hamilton Ave., between Broadway and Marshall Street in downtown Redwood City.

GALA CELEBRATION Saturday, February 6, 1-4 p.m. at the old courthouse. Admission free. The public opening will be preceded by a preview for members at 10 a.m.

REGULAR HOURS: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

PARKING is available on the street and at downtown parking lots.

ADMISSION will be $2 for adults; and $1 for children, ages 6-12, and seniors 65 and over.

WHAT'S NEEDED: Funds for completion of exhibits; photos, records and artifacts, preferably connected to San Mateo County; and volunteers, says Executive Director Mitch Postel.

OTHER MUSEUMS: The historical association operates two other historical museums in the county: the Woodside Store at 3300 Tripp Road in Woodside, 851-7615; and the Sanchez Adobe at 1000 Linda Mar Blvd. in Pacifica, 359-1462.
